Danie Castle
Danie Castle is a communication specialist, visual artist and educator from Surrey, British Columbia. While she has a deep connection to the redwoods, mountains, and ocean, it is the vast, open skies of Saskatchewan that she now calls home. She credits her Métis father for instilling in her a deep curiosity about the world. From a young age, he introduced her to the daily wonders of life, whether it was the stars in the sky, how the engine of a car operates, or the simple beauty of a rolie-polie on the ground. This nurturing curiosity continues to guide her journey today. Her public art has been featured in several media outlets and she has been recognized by both her peers and the community, including being honored in 2023 as part of the "We Celebrate You" campaign celebration of SK Arts’ 75th Anniversary.
She has collaborated with other creators including Métis artist and Knowledge Keeper Leah Dorion, and has worked on a range of communit events, projects and programs, including with youth, to promote unity and creative expression. Through her work as both a visual artist and educator, Danie has cultivated valuable skills in communication, partnership building, and content development. She continues to expand her artistic practice into the field of production, embracing new challenges and opportunities to share her creative vision with a broader audience. A proud mom, Danie enjoys the little adventures of everyday life with her partner, son and pet cat and rabbit.
Her passion for storytelling, collaboration, and mentorship continues to make a lasting impact on the communities she serves.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Danie has worked as an art instructor and community liaison at the Margo Fournier Arts Centre in Prince Albert and the Mann Art Gallery, where she played a vital role in fostering creative expression through both art and cooking programs. Her passion for education is evident in her diverse programs, designed for people of all ages, which aim to engage and inspire the community.
Commitment to community and collaboration is a central theme in her life. Her dedication to creating inclusive spaces for others to engage with their creativity has been a hallmark of her career. She believes that everyone has the ability to express themselves through art in unique and powerful ways.
